Being an ICU nurse is a challenging yet rewarding career, one where I can directly improve – or save – people’s lives. It’s a privileged role, but given the stakes involved, one that takes a toll. When Covid hit, I often worked five or six 12-hour shifts each week, and that still wasn’t enough to save
Hundreds of patients that I accompanied through their final, obstructed breath. They were more numerous and sick each day, and we were more worn out and frazzled each night.
It’s often in these types of extreme situations that perspective and wisdom emerge. For me, that took the form of two realizations:
- The rare hours I had to recharge at home were my lifeline. Had I not enjoyed peace, quiet, comfort, and safety in my downtime, I would not have made it through.
- After 40 hours of nursing work a week, the quality of my care diminished. By creating passive revenue streams, I could afford to work less but better, and actually enjoy myself at work.
That’s why I became passionate and proactive about real estate: to provide restful homes and fruitful investments.
Residents deserve to replenish at home and investors, including myself, deserve to work less and earn more. In February 2021, when the 2nd Covid wave was finally receding, I redoubled my efforts in multifamily syndication. I had already purchased, renovated, and rented out a single family home before the pandemic, now was the time for me to scale up.
Creating Homesphere Investments and applying all of the critical thinking skills, teamwork, and dedication that I had mastered in the healthcare industry, I was able to close my first multifamily deal as a GP in the summer of 2021. I am now involved with over 200 units nationwide and growing rapidly. Doing both healthcare and wealthcare has been the best decision of my professional life and I am looking forward to growing my real estate portfolio and sharing the payoff with you.Passive income is the key to financial freedom.
